(Sacramento, CA)— Today, Senate Bill (SB) 587, authored by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel), passed off of the Senate Floor.  The bill extends the sunset date for the California Sea Otter Voluntary Tax Contribution Fund from 2021 to 2028.

October 04, 2019

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senate Bill (SB) 504, authored by Senator Bill Monning (D- Carmel) and co-authored by Assemblymember Jordan Cunningham (R- San Luis Obispo), was signed into law by Governor Newsom. 

SB 504 provides the City of Pismo Beach with ownership of 2.5 miles of Highway 1 located within city limits.  This section of Highway 1 is currently under the jurisdiction of the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senate Bill (SB) 467, authored by Senator Bill Monning (D- Carmel) and co-authored by Assemblymember Jordan Cunningham (R- San Luis Obispo), that requires the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) to place cost of attendance information on their website was signed into law by Governor Newsom.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) issued the following statement about the Governor’s signing his Senate Bill (SB) 645, which limits the timeframe victims of mesothelioma or silicosis may be deposed by defendants.

“I am pleased to see that Governor Newsom shares my commitment to protect victims of mesothelioma and silicosis during the deposition process,” said Senator Monning.  “Without these time limits, marathon depositions will continue to inflict undue emotional and physical harm on these victims during their final days of life.”

(SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA) – Today, Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) hosted a public forum with UC Berkeley and the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to present the Economic Impact Assessment for Diablo Canyon. 

 

“The Diablo Canyon Power Plant has been an important part of the local economy for decades and the region needs reliable data and information to prepare for its safe closure,” said Senator Monning.  “Information from this report will give the county and schools the tools to plan ahead to mitigate any negative impacts of the power plant’s closure.”
