(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) has named Diana Jimenez as the 17th Senate District’s 2019 “Woman of the Year”.  Ms. Jimenez will take part in a ceremony on the Floor of the California State Senate on March 4, 2019, as part of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus annual tribute to outstanding California women during Women’s History Month.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – In an effort to combat the obesity and type-2 diabetes crisis perpetuated by the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs), Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) introduced Senate Bill (SB) 347, which requires sugary beverages sold in California to have a safety warning label.

For years, Californians regarded access to safe drinking water as a Third World problem.
No more.
About 1 million Californians can’t safely drink their tap water. Approximately 300 water systems in California currently have contamination issues ranging from arsenic to lead to uranium at levels that create severe health issues.
It’s a disgrace that demands immediate state action.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) announced that Senate Bill (SB) 1236 has been signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.  The bill will improve road safety by implementing new federal commercial truck driving regulations, as well as adding additional truck driver safety requirements.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senate Bill (SB) 1129 by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown.  SB 1129 provides critical financial protections to survivors of violent domestic abuse.

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) and Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham (R-San Luis Obispo) announced that Governor Jerry Brown has signed Senate Bill (SB) 1090.  The new law will mitigate the impact of the Diablo Canyon plant closure and has widespread support throughout the community. 
For years, Diablo Canyon has provided an emissions-free energy supply to consumers – making up 10 percent of the state’s energy portfolio.  Additionally, the plant contributes an estimated $1 billion to the economy and thousands of jobs.
