(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Yesterday, Senate Bill (SB) 189 authored by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel), and co-authored by Assemblymembers Robert Rivas (D-Hollister) and Mark Stone (D-Scotts Valley), passed off the Senate Floor on a unanimous vote of 38-0.
 
“SB 189 ensures the successful transition of Fort Ord Reuse Authority (FORA) by providing the Monterey Bay region with the tools for dissolution,” stated Senator Monning.  “Our focus is to provide a strong path forward that benefits the region and is consistent with the Base Reuse Plan.”

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – California State Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) issued the following statement about the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) decision to ban the use of chlorpyrifos:
 
“Today’s action by CalEPA and DPR represents an important step forward to protect the health of children and all rural Californians,” states Senator Bill Monning.  “I want to acknowledge the efforts of the community and public health advocates, as well as the commitment of the Administration to find safer alternatives to chlorpyrifos.”

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – In another important public health victory, Senate Bill (SB) 347, which requires sugary beverages sold in California to have a health-warning label, passed out of the Senate Committee on Health on a 5-1 vote.
