(SACRAMENTO, CA)  - Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) and Assemblyman Jordan Cunningham (R-San Luis Obispo), who both represent San Luis Obispo County, sent the following letter to the California Public Utilities Commission President and Board Members on the Proposed Decision about the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant Agreement that was issued on November 8, 2017:

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Today, Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel), state legislative leaders, community leaders, and environmental justice and agricultural groups announced Senate Bill (SB) 623, which would establish the Safe and Affordable Drinking Water Fund to provide short- and long-term drinking water solutions to Californians who lack access to safe and affordable drinking water.

(SACRAMENTO, CA)  - Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) released the following statement on last night’s passage of the cap-and-trade package at the State Capitol:

(SACRAMENTO, CA) –Today, the Assembly Committee on Transportation passed Senate Bill (SB) 158 by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel).  The bill will improve road safety by implementing new federal commercial truck driving regulations, as well as adding additional truck driver safety requirements.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – The Monterey County Chapter of “Guitars Not Guns” was honored today as the 17th Senate District Nonprofit of the Year by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel).  Guitars Not Guns is an all-volunteer nonprofit that provides guitars free of charge to children and teens, along with lessons, to encourage creativity, personal growth and help direct students away from harmful influences, such as drugs, alcohol, and gang activities.

June 27, 2017
(SACRAMENTO, CA)  - The state budget signed today by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. included $1.5 million for the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery (CCCVC).  This funding is necessary for Phase II development and expansion of the Cemetery and was secured by Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) and Assemblymember Mark Stone (D-Monterey Bay).
