(Santa Cruz, CA) – Sierra Club California has given Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) a 100- percent score on its 2009 California Legislative Report Card.  Assemblymember Monning was one of only two Assemblymembers to support the Sierra Club’s position on all 15 measures they identified as priority issues for 2009.  Some of the key issues that the Sierra Club California weighed in on during 2009 addressed off-shore oil drilling, timber harvesting, and support for state parks.

(SANTA CRUZ, CA) – Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) commented on the Governor’s line item vetoes made earlier this week.

“We sent the Governor a budget that preserved essential safety net programs.  While it made painful cuts to all levels of state government services, it preserved basic social safety-net programs and the state’s eligibility for federal matching funds,” stated Assemblymember Monning.  “The Governor’s vetoes not only endanger the poor and disabled, but are legally questionable.”
