(Santa Cruz, CA) Assemblymember Bill Monning expressed disappointment today at the announcement by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) to propose registration of the pesticide, Methyl Iodide for use in California.  The announcement was made today through DPR’s website. (Marina, CA) – On Sunday, May 16, 2010, Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) is co-sponsoring a workshop with the Central Coast Foreclosure Collaborative (CCFC) to assist local homeowners at risk of foreclosure.  The event includes a panel of experts who will provide information to homeowners in foreclosure or at risk of foreclosure.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Today, legislation authored by Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) aiding in recovery efforts of the endangered California Condor passed the Assembly Floor. Assembly Bill (AB) 1956 provides guidelines for feeding sites and locations for the Department of Fish and Game (DFG) as they revise an existing condor recovery memorandum of understanding’s (MOU).

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) was appointed today by the newly elected Assembly Speaker John Perez as the Chair of the Assembly Committee on Health.

Assembly Health Committee has the primary jurisdiction over health care policy issues such as Medi-Cal, mental health licensing of health and health-related professionals, and long term health care facilities. The Assembly Committee on Health does not have jurisdiction over the funding of health related issues.

(Seaside, CA) - Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) will hold a press conference today at the former Fort Ord Military base to announce the introduction of AB 1757, legislation that will ease the path toward the creation of a California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery.  The legislation allows funds that are raised now to go towards planning and design activities over the next few years, which is intended to expedite the project.

(SANTA CRUZ, CA) – Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) joined state Legislators from across the country calling upon the U.S. Senate to enact clean energy jobs legislation this week.  Appealing to Senators Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer for their support of pending federal climate change legislation that will bring jobs and economic opportunity to California, the Assemblymember signed on to a bi-partisan letter, joining lawmakers from 49 states, to send a clear signal that clean energy reform is urgently needed.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Clean Water Action has awarded Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) its “Clean Water Champion” award in recognition of his leadership on water and environmental issues in the recently completed 2009-10 Legislative Session.  Assemblymember Monning received a score of 100% on Clean Water Action’s list of 20 bills considered in the 2009-10 Legislative Session and was one of 22 members of the Legislature given this award.
