(SACRAMENTO, CA) – Assemblymember Bill Monning (D - Carmel) praised the passage of two bills enacting the Homeowner’s Bill of Rights in California.  Earlier today, the State Assembly passed Assembly Bill (AB) 278 and Senate Bill (SB) 900, authored by Assemblymember Eng and Senator Leno, respectively, which would change the non-judicial foreclosure process and provide borrowers with additional loss mitigation options.

(SACRAMENTO, CA) - Today, with the passage of Assembly Bill (AB) 1461 authored by Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel), California is a step closer to having an insurance market where people are not denied coverage because of preexisting conditions. AB 1461 passed out of the Assembly Committee on Health with an initial vote of 11-6.

(Sacramento, CA)—Today, Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) announced that Assembly Bill (AB) 1678, which would address mobile food vending near public schools, will not proceed further this year.     

Assemblymember Monning said, “Mobile food vending that targets students near school campuses remains a pressing issue.  The challenge before us is working with a diverse group of stakeholders to establish a shared understanding about the adverse impacts of these practices and the necessity of a statewide legislative solution.

Sacramento - Today, Assemblymember Bill Monning (D-Carmel) introduced legislation to help California schools promote and protect student health by restricting mobile food vending near school campuses.

Assembly Bill (AB) 1678 prohibits mobile food and beverage vending within 1,500 feet of elementary and secondary school campuses from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on any day schools are in session. The bill also requires local health agencies to notify mobile food vendors of this restriction.
